Mountain biking, rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, fishing and golf, are just some of the activities you can enjoy. In winter select from the full range of snow sports including heli and cat skiing tours or snowboarding in some of the world’s best powder.

Paddle our network of lakes and rivers by canoe or kayak to explore endless coves and beaches. Better yet, sign up for a sail across Kootenay Lake, anchoring in a quiet bay to dine on a sumptuous gourmet meal prepared by the crew. Tube down the rapids of the Slocan River, wake board, windsurf, relax on sandy beaches or head to the hot springs (see our Health, Wellness & Spas page).

Admire the views as you polish up on your swing at any of several spectacular golf courses in the region. Or revel in the peace and discovery of bird watching at a park or sanctuary.

Fish for rainbow trout, Kokanee Salmon, whitefish, Dolly Varden (a colourful variety of Arctic char), Bull Trout, Gerrard Rainbow and ling cod. Imagine water so clean you can drink it. We’ll hook you up with the appropriate licensing authority or fully guided fishing charters, to make your fishing experience unforgettable.

Mountain bike on a network of trails across the region or take a scenic bike trip along one of the historic circle tours. Take a guided and catered alpine climbing/camping trip through the Valhallas. Hike for a day or a week along mountain streams, through forests, into the high alpine, feel the cool breeze from a glacier whisper across your skin and witness the awe of boundless panoramic vistas.

In winter, the West Kootenay powder skiing is virtually unrivalled. Choose from local ski resorts, minutes from Nelson, or take a spectacular helicopter ride to a cat skiing lodge for a brief fully pampered experience.

If Nordic or backcountry skiing is your game, choose from groomed cross-country ski trails, like the Nancy Greene Provincial Park trails that hook up with tracked trails from Red Mountain Ski Area near Rossland, or explore the joys of open backcountry wilderness to your heart’s content.

Be sure to rent a Skidoo and take a tour. Everything for your winter holiday is right on our doorstep.
